Kevin Michael Chong was born in Hollywood, CA, on May 14, 1991. His love for music began at an early age, inspired by his father, German Luis Alberto Chong, a passionate Salsa enthusiast. Kevin didn’t start playing drums until age 8, when he began performing at his home church, Rios De Agua Viva, in South Gate, CA. Through the church’s music program, he was exposed to a wide range of styles—Gospel, Latin, Pop, Indie, and Country—that helped shape his versatile approach to drumming.
In 2014, Kevin pursued higher education at the Cornel School of Music, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Drum Performance. While there, he studied under world-renowned musicians including Jimmy Branly, Abraham Laboriel Sr., Otmaro Ruiz, Allen Hinds, Oscar Hernandez, and Luis Conte.
Currently, Kevin works with a variety of artists, wedding agencies, and churches across the Inland Empire, Orange County, and Los Angeles. In 2023, he co-founded the Chad & Chong Podcast with his close friend Chad Manalo, a video/audio podcast exploring topics around performance, production, and everything in between. Season II is set to release in April 2025.
Kevin has worked with a wide range of artists, including Leona Lewis, Becky G, Ana Bárbara, Victoria "La Mala," AJ Rafael, Inigo Pascual, Cuitla Vega, NEZZA, Simu Liu, and Yahritza Y Su Esencia. He has also been part of multiple seasonal runs at Disney’s California Adventure—Food & Wine Festival and Viva Navidad!—with The Tina Aldana Band.
In the Christian music space, Kevin has collaborated with artists and producers such as Tommy Walker, Daniel Johnson, Jonathan Butler, Influence Music, Sean Feucht, Gabriel Wilson, Kim Walker-Smith, Mack Brock, Lindy Cofer, Matt Gilman, Katy Nichole, Tyrone Wells, Evan Craft, Jesse Gonzalez (El Trio de Hoy), and many more.
He served as the drummer for Influence Music’s 6th and 7th albums—Long Live The King (Live at The Grove), released July 2023, and Day & Night (Live at Influence Church), released August 2024. Both albums are available on YouTube and all major streaming platforms.
